Carolyn (Connie) Anderson
02-23-2024

Carolyn (Connie) Anderson, the daughter of Henry (Hank) and Blanche (Hansen) Boelens, was born on January 18, 1936, on a farm near Elkton, South Dakota. She attended District 10 just south of the farm. After graduating from the country school, she continued her education at Dell Rapids Public High School where she became homecoming queen her senior year. After high school she moved to Sioux Falls and took a job at a marketing firm as an artist.

On April 14, 1956, Connie was united in marriage to Lester Duane Anderson. Together they made their home in Sioux Falls where they raised their two sons, Jeffrey and Todd. Connie and Lester celebrated 59 years of marriage until he passed away in January of 2016. Connie worked as a dental assistant for many years and after the boys left the house, she became a caregiver for the elderly.

Connie loved to dance, which is how she met her husband, at the Arkoda Ballroom in Sioux Falls. She also enjoyed yard work and harvesting pears from the two pears trees in the backyard. In addition, she enjoyed camping, music by Elvis, painting and drawing. She was a devoted member of St. Joesph Cathedral parish up until 2015. Connie passed away on February 23, 2024, at Trouvaille Memory Care, Excelsior MN, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 5 days.

Connie is survived by her son: Todd (Shelley) Anderson of Excelsior, MN; three grandchildren: Scott Anderson of Carroll, IA, Allie and Logan Anderson of Excelsior, MN; and one sister: Lorna (Elvin) Beyers of Holland MN. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester, her son Jeff, her brother John Boelens, her sister Kitty Larson and her parents Hank and Blanche Boelens.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 29, 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
