Charlotte Viola Oster

Charlotte Viola Oster, 91, of Sioux Falls died Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Dougherty Hospice House. She was born at home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on August 22, 1934 to Earl and Gladys (Stone) Larscheid.

Charlotte met the love of her life Robert while attending Cathedral High School in 1951. She attended Nursing school in Omaha Nebraska. Her schooling was interrupted to wed Robert on October 9, 1954.

Charlotte was a charter member of St. Mary Parish and participated in the women’s altar society. Charlotte loved the outdoors and especially fishing. She was awarded a SD Proud Angler for a Salomon catch.

Grateful for having shared her life with her husband: Robert; and their children: Mary Rose Oster, Sioux Falls, Ted and Ilona Oster, Pensacola Florida, Rock and Sherri Oster, Sioux Falls, Bernadette and Steve Willuweit, Sioux Falls, Matt and Beth Oster, Lusby, Maryland; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Charlotte has one surviving sibling: Dolores Costello. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and two grandsons.

Charlotte was an amazing wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is already missed. Charlotte died of a broken heart caused by Roberts passing. Now she is reunited with him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Visitation will be at Barnett Lewis Funeral Home on Monday, January 19, 5:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 20, 10:30 AM at St. Mary Parish.
