Donald Paul Lowin was born December 2nd, 1960 in Parkston, South Dakota and grew up in Tripp, South Dakota. While growing up in Tripp, Don was involved in sports, hunting, fishing, and working for various farmers in the summertime. Don attended Southeast Area Vocational Technical College in Sioux Falls, SD, where he graduated with a landscaping degree. He went on to work as a Landscape Foreman at Cliff Avenue Greenhouse in Sioux Falls, SD for 18 years. Don was a member of the Sierra Club and possessed a lifelong passion for the great outdoors. He was passionate about fishing, hunting, canoeing, camping, cross country skiing, and hiking – he relished any opportunity to be out in nature. He was a walking book on flora and fauna – well versed on many categories of the environment. His happy place was near a river, lake, or forest. Don also had a great love for animals and cherished time with his pets over the years (Dogs: Shawnee and Jed, Cat: Sphinx).

Don was one of the most decent, kind, and gentle spirits you would ever meet. Don loved his family and showed it by always helping out at the drop of a hat, and spending time with his siblings and their children.
