Steven (Steve) Clarence Vermillion
02-09-2022

Steven (Steve) Clarence Vermillion was born on December 26th, 1961 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD to Kenneth M. and Luella M. Vermillion. He was the third born in a family of five children.

Steve took his last breath on February 9th, 2022 at Sanford Hospital, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Steve graduated from Washington High School in 1980. He married the love of his life, Jennifer A. Conrad July 20th, 1996. Steve and Jennifer celebrated 25+ wonderful years together.

Steve had one son Dustin from his previous marriage. He was the twinkle in Steve's eye. Dustin later blessed Papa Steve and Gramma Jen with the light of their life Nora Grace, in 2015. He and Nora were always singing and dancing together.

Steve was an accomplished drummer in the family band 'VERMILLION', during the 80's and 90's. He worked as an ironworker alongside his father and brothers early in his adult life. He later transitioned into sales at Sunset Pawn before starting his own business, S&D Floorcovering in 1996.

Steve possessed an unparalleled work ethic and was a man of many talents. He could build or fix anything broken whether it be construction, mechanics or auto body work. He was also a master prankster, loved to laugh and had an infectious smile. Steve had a heart of gold. He always put the needs of others before his own and was willing to lend a hand to whoever was in need. He made family time a priority with his trusty side-kicks; fur buddies RiRi (morkie) and RaeRae (yorkie) by his side. He was considered the "funcle" by his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed fishing with his son and father-in-law Terry and camping with family is when Steve felt most complete.

Steve will be loved and remembered by his wife: Jennifer (Conrad) Vermillion; son: Dustin Vermillion; step-daughter: Misty (Jay) Swierczek; granddaughter: Nora Vermillion; bonus grandson: Gavin Geiken; brothers: Kenneth A. Vermillion, Keven (Cathy) Vermillion, Michael (Jenny) Vermillion; sister: Kathleen (Mark) Grosz; father and mother in-law: Terry and Sharon Conrad; brothers in-law: Dan (Heather) Conrad, Tony (Olivia) Conrad; grandma: Dorothy Friman; and several beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve experienced a beautiful welcome by his parents: Kenneth M. Vermillion and Luella M. Vermillion; niece: Tiffany L. Vermillion; nephew: Andrew S. Vermillion; and sister-in-law: Renee L. Vermillion.

Visitation will be Friday, February 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with family present at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 19, 11:00 AM at Memorial Lutheran Church.
