Ronald Leon Hansen

Ronald Leon Hansen, 89, of Sioux Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025. He was born April 26, 1935 to William and Anna (Geraldson) Hansen in Yankton, SD.

Ronald grew up on the homestead outside of Yankton, while attending school in Yankton.

On May 6, 1956 he married Betty Lou Collins and from that union four children were born. Upon his marriage he began working for John Morrell’s in Sioux Falls, he remained there until his retirement. However, his strong work ethics would not let him fully retire, so he began working part time for the Sioux Falls Stockyards. Fully retiring in 2008 to care for his beloved wife, who would pass away after a long illness on December 24, 2008.

Ronald was an avid hunter, and in the summer you would find him fishing on the Missouri River with friends and family. Dancing was something Ronald and Betty Lou enjoyed together, often traveling to Utica, SD to one of their favorite dancing spots.

In 2009, Ronald rekindled a friendship with Betty Ketter. They enjoyed dancing, fishing and a friendship that lasted until his passing.

Ronald will be missed by his children: Eva Hansen, Sioux Falls, Walter Hansen, Yankton, Ronnie Hansen, Sioux Falls, and Betty Isacs, Texas; his nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother; Kenneth; 2 sisters: Connie and Betty, all from Yankton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brothers Jerald, Sydney, James and an infant brother, John

Visitation, with family present, will be Saturday, April 26 from 10:00-11:00 AM, a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.
