Earl T. Weinand

Earl T. Weinand, 86, died December 4, 2007 at the Dell Rapids Hospital. Earl was born on February 3, 1921 to John and Grace (Arnagost) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended school and graduated from North High in 1939. Earl enlisted in the Navy and saw action in WWII. He was active from 1942 to 1946. On April 26, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Brenny in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1958. Earl was an avid sports fan and had a passion for golf. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. As a hobby, he enjoyed metal crafting. Earl was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post #628, the Center for Active Generation and the Central Valley Golf Course. Earl was also a member of Christ the King Church. Earl is survived by a son: Paul (Kris), Flandreau, SD; daughters: Renita (Kent) Lewis, Manhattan, KS, Mary (Don) Robinson, Denver, CO; brother: Dick (Verle), Mesa, AZ; sister: Grace Marie Freund, Coon Rapids, MN; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son: Bill; brothers: Don, John and Cliff; and a sister: Audrey. Visitation will be Sunday, 1 PM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a Scripture Vigil at 4 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10 AM at Christ the King Church with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery with Flag Folding Rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #628. The family requests that memorial be direct to the O'Gorman High School Scholarship Fund.
